Founder & Chairman:
Dr. Shams Uzzaman is the Founder and Chairman of Al-Shams Trust. After his retirement from academia, he established the trust with the aim of supporting individuals from economically disadvantaged communities. Under his leadership, the trust runs a school dedicated to educating children, and he remains actively involved in guiding the trust’s educational and social initiatives.
Dr. Uzzaman grew up in a small village and completed his schooling there before moving to Aligarh to pursue higher education at Aligarh Muslim University. Driven by a strong commitment to education and academic excellence, he completed his Master’s degree and later earned a PhD in Organic Chemistry. He was subsequently awarded a Commonwealth Fellowship to undertake postdoctoral research at Queen’s University Belfast, United Kingdom.
With more than three decades of teaching and research experience at Aligarh Muslim University, Dr. Uzzaman has made significant contributions to higher education and scientific research.
